Title: Ties That Bind, Chapter 1
Rating: R, possibly NC-17 later
Summary: set after day six. David Palmer, Milo and Cutis are still alive. Doyle's eyes are fine and he is still at CTU. Bill thought is was going to be just another meeting, but someone else had another plan...
Nadia slid the disc into the computer. When the picture came up on the screen, she had to squint to what it was because it was so dark, after a few minutes, she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up on end. That was when the picture became a bit clearer.
"Oh my god!" Nadia exclaimed.
Jumping up from her desk, she collided into Milo.
"Oh, uh sorry." She muttered.
Barging into the conference room, she exclaimed "Bill, you've got to come see this!"
"Nadia, we are in the middle of a de-briefing." Bill explained calmly.
Walking inside, closing the door, Nadia looked him straight in the eyes. "This won't wait Bill. Trust me you need to see this now." She said firmly.
It was so uncharacteristic of Nadia to act this way, Bill decided he better go take a look at whatever it was that was causing her to be this disturbed. "I'll be right back." He said to Doyle and Curtis.
"They should see this too Bill." Nadia said.
Doyle and Curtis looked at each other. "Okay."
Nervously, she sat down at her station and started the disc again.
Again the dark picture came into view. You could barely make out the concrete walls, as there was only a tiny bit of light filtering into the room from somewhere. Slowly a single form became discernible amidst the darkness. It was in the darkest corner of the small space.
A naked back slowly came into view. The closer the camera closed in on its target, you could make out the marks red marks on the back. Closer still, you could see bruising on the thigh of the person that was trying to hide from the camera.
Then the body was being pulled into a standing position. Now you could tell that it was a woman. Strands of long, dark, hair kept the face from view. The front of her body, legs and arms had the same bruising that they had seen on the thigh.
A hand from the cameraman, reached out, gripped the woman's chin. "Let's show them who you are." Said an accented voice.
The bruised face of Chloe O'Brian came into view.
The same voice spoke again, "Talk to them Chloe."
Looking straight at the camera, Chloe croaked "Jack. Jack Bauer."
Cursing was suddenly heard. "That's not what she was supposed to say."
Another voice replied. "That's okay. I feel sure that the viewers understand what we want. You have twenty-four hours, and then you will be contacted. It would be most unpleasant for Miss. O'Brian here if Jack were not to answer the phone at that time."
The last that was heard before the camera shut off was a soft whimper.
"Christ!" muttered Bill. "When did you get this? Where did you get this from?"
Nadia looked at all three men. "I don't know. It was on my desk, amongst the other stuff that I've been working on. I assumed it was more of the same stuff when I put it into my computer." She replied calmly. "I thought Chloe was on vacation."
"Was the disc on your desk before you went to lunch today? She is or was suppose to be on vacation, Nadia." Doyle replied.
Nadia paused a moment to think. "No I am positive it wasn't."
"Shit" muttered Curtis "We had breach in security. Only other way it could have gotten in here is with the mail."
Standing up, Bill regarded them all "Okay, let's start there. Also run a check on the disc, I don't think that there will be any prints, sounds or signatures on it, but it would be would be careless of us not to check it out. Can you handle that Nadia?"
"Yes." Nadia replied.
"Doyle, come with me, I want you there with me when I tell Jack." Bill said with a heavy voice. "We have to get him back here, tonight."
